With the Sun in Capricorn now opposing Mars Rx, we are at the halfway point of Mars’ Retrograde which began on December 6/2024 and will end on February 23/2025.
The symbol for Mars is a Shield and Sword, often affiliated with Men/Masculine energy. When one fights, they are pushing or projecting energy outward in order to cut, break, or destroy something.
Some things need to be cut off, broken, or let go in order for us to heal, process, and move on to the next part of our soul’s journey.
You may be having an internal battle with a certain fear or judgement of Self.
A battle with the Ego.
A battle with your Job/Career/Superiors/Subordinates.
A battle with Family.
A battle with Struggle, Victimhood, or Lack.
A battle with Life and Surviving.
One definition of battle is, “fight or struggle tenaciously to achieve or resist something.”
We can either fight, or struggle.
We can either achieve, or resist.
We can either be on the offensive, or defensive.
Trust and believe that some battles are not won overnight. Sometimes, one fight for their dreams, marriages, financial freedom, health, or love for many moons, years, and decades.
Don’t give up the Fight simply because you have experienced loss or failure in your past.
One of my favourite ancient proverbs is, “Fall down seven times, get up eight.” It also is a beautiful nod to the episode of “Sex and the City” where Carrie has to overcome her own judgement of owning her obsession and love of fashion to walk the runway of a designer fashion show. Walking for Dolce & Gabanna, looking fabulous, she makes it just a couple steps before falling down and becoming “fashion roadkill.”
Naturally, less than an ideal situation.
However, we see Carrie have her Ego Death, but then realizes that “real people” get back up and understand their flaws are not to their detriment, but to highlight the humanity within all of us. This humanity (light) shows those around us that they too have the power to overcome their own darkness, fear, shame, guilt, and judgement.
Thus, you can look at this halfway marker of Mars’ Retrograde Cycle to understand what fight, battle, or struggle you are facing. Remember that said Martian battle may not be external, but internal and around a certain fear or belief system. For closer examination, you can look to the Houses in your Natal Chart ruled by Leo and Cancer, as these are the Houses Mars has been travelling during this Retrograde Period. Those, those House Topics are likely the origin of the battles you are facing.

Keep your head in the game and be mindful of your emotional regulation. Mars has weak essential dignity while in the sign of Cancer, so you may find that your emotions are more volatile and take you out of the arena before you even enter.
Thus, understanding your emotional triggers, wounds, and blocks can then help you better defend yourself against oncoming attacks (both internal and external) to then seek out the love and support needed to succeed.
You are not alone in this battle unless you want to be.
Trust that there is support (both from the physical and spiritual realms) available to you at all times.
